Where Royalty & Resistance Meet
Omhedi is no ordinary village. Queen Martha Mwandinomho yaKristian Nelumbu, the Ohamba of Oukwanyama, holds her royal residence here, the first woman to lead this traditional authority.
It is also the sacred ground where King Mandume yaNdemufayo, Namibia's national hero, made his final stand in 1917. Today, visitors can experience a destination where history, culture and nature exist together.
Living in Harmony with the Environment
At Omhedi, sustainability is not a policy. It is how we were raised.
Built from the Land
Structures use locally sourced iroko wood, mopane timber, soapstone, and ochre clay plaster.
Water Stewardship
Rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling reduce our draw on scarce groundwater.
Community-First Employment
Every team member is drawn from surrounding villages, ensuring tourism sustains local livelihoods.
Solar-Led Energy
Off-grid solar powers the lodge, keeping footprint light and our nights quietly luminous.
No Single-Use Plastics
Guests are welcomed with refillable containers and natural fibre amenities from local artisans.
Three Ways to Mark a Day
From the first light to the last fire, a handful of experiences that frame an Omhedi day from sunrise to starlight.
From pounding mahangu and brewing omalodu to riding a donkey cart at sunset and stargazing by an open fire, every experience at Omhedi puts you inside Oukwanyama life, not outside looking in.
